This is a question that is difficult to answer in one word or one sentence.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is known for his calm demeanor, has said goodbye to the world of cricket and started something that is benefiting not only Dhoni but also his neighbors.
Recently, a picture of Dhoni eating strawberries went viral. It was a strawberry grown on his own farm, spread over 43 acres.
Apart from strawberries, pineapple, Sharifa, guava, papaya, onion, tomato, gourd, pea, and other fruits and vegetables are also being grown in this field. At the same time, the cabbage crop has been harvested, and the mango trees have been planted separately.
Dhoni farming himself?
In the world of cricket, Dhoni is known for his excellent batting and brilliant finishing of matches, but when cricket expert Dhoni stepped into the world of agriculture, he relied on the opinion of agricultural experts.
Roshan Kumar, an agricultural student, is in charge of Dhoni’sDhoni’s farmhouse in Simbo village, 18km from Ranchi’sRanchi’s district headquarters.
I was building my house during the lockdown,” Roshan told the BBC. Just then, I received a call and was told that Dhoni had called. I came here without thinking, and since then, I have been responsible for farming here.
New techniques and delicious strawberries
“In the first meeting, Dhoni’s brother said that every corner of the bright land has to be used, but each corner h. Take your own characteristics, take care of it,” Roshan said.
So first we prepared the land, which took six months. This was followed by strawberries and watermelons. When the brother tasted the strawberries, he said,
“I have eaten strawberries in many countries, but it tastes the best.”
“You will see that the root of the tomato plant is that of the eggplant,” Roshan said. This is called the grafting technique. The advantage is that the eggplant root is stronger than the tomato. This makes the plant last longer, and because it absorbs more natural ingredients, tomato production is higher. Tomato plants usually die in one to two months, but we have been extracting tomatoes here for four months.
According to Roshan, “There is completely organic farming here, but the important thing is that you can start organic farming completely organically. You have to move towards it slowly. That’sThat’s why cows are raised here; there are chickens, there are fish, there are plans to raise ducks. It’sIt’s also called integrated farming, meaning production and everything else can be used here.
Roshan further explains that when Dhoni’sDhoni’s wife Sakshi came here, she also gave some suggestions. Sakshi said that along with agriculture, there should be beauty here as well.
Livestock care management
“About 70 to 80 workers work in the fields every day,” said Kanal Gautam, farmhouse manager. All are from the surrounding villages. Apart from wages, they are also being taught farming methods here so that they can cultivate their land in the same way. Pointing to a young man, he said, “Meet him. This is Bhai Dhoni’s doctor.”
Dr. Vishwajit is kept here to take care of the cattle.
“One-day Dhoni’s brother called and said, ”Doctor, you have to take care of cows and chickens here, but now you have to take care of the cows of the surrounding villages.” So a lifting machine is being brought here to save the paralyzed cow and other animals.
“Currently, there are 70 cows here,” he said. In addition, ger and indigenous cows are coming. For the indigenous breed, Dhoni specifically told them that he had set up a modern cattle farm for all of them with a capacity of 300 cows. About 350 to 400 liters of milk come here daily. It is currently being sold in Ranchi markets.
Said Dhoni would give them to raise cows.
Recently, many cricketers across the country, including Delhi, tweeted about the ongoing farmer’s movement, but Dhoni has not yet commented on it.
After retiring from cricket, Dhoni spends most of his time at his home in Ranchi. In the meanwhile, pictures of him driving a tractor on the farm and breaking strawberries are coming to light.
Jacinta Kajur, who works in Dhoni’s fields, lives in a nearby village. Khajur says she has met Dhoni and taken photos. Meanwhile, Dhoni told him that in the coming days, he would also give him a cow to raise. Jacinta earns Rs 200 a day here.
People know Ranchi’s vegetable market as the Daily Market. There is a small shop of ten by ten, but for some time, it has been the focus of consumer and media attention. The shop has a banner of Dhoni’s farm with a picture of Dhoni printed on it.
Shop owner Arshad Alam says, “The strawberries you see come every day from Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s farm. People come to buy in the name of Dhoni, but they buy because the thing is good.
Deepak, another shopkeeper, standing nearby, also said that he tells his customers that the goods are from Dhoni’s farmhouse. That’s why people buy well, and the quality of the product is good.
Saman Yadav was met early in the morning at Lalpur Chowk in Ranchi. They have a milk counter. He says he has been selling Dhoni’s farm milk here since August last year. Sahiwal and France are selling cow’s milk. It does not contain any kind of mixture like water, powder, synthetic, or medicine. Every day, milk comes to their counter from the farmhouse, and they deliver it to the houses.
Recently, Jharkhand Agriculture Minister Badal Patar Lekh had said that he would like to make Mahendra Singh Dhoni the brand ambassador of organic farming in Jharkhand, but only time will tell whether Dhoni agrees or not.
